What would you be doing right now if we weren't in the middle of a pandemic? In a few days, I would be leaving for a trip to Puerto Rico. I planned to spend nearly a week eating my way around the island, exploring the El Yunque Rainforest, and learning the history of Old San Juan. Despite there being greater potential concerns to have at this moment, I'm admittedly pretty gutted. I was especially looking forward to celebrating my birthday doing something special and now I'm trying to sort out if there's any way I can still navigate that ("something special", not flying).
My unofficial birthday plan has become driving to see the scenic Saville Dam in Barkhamsted, Connecticut. It's a roughly 2.5 hour drive one way; a trip ideally taken with someone willing to drive back...but if the weather is right, I'll probably be in the mood. I also have some 35mm film I've been waiting to use and a few frames left in my Polaroid so I'm crossing my fingers.
And if nothing else, I'll at least end up indulging in some Indian takeout and a Netflix movie while I spend my birthday at home.
