Blazers really never go "out" of style, but the oversized, longline, dad blazer if you will, is kind of on fire right now. We've been given countless interpretations from the runway--like this season's Jacquemus or 3.1 Phillip Lim--to the likes of Primark and Target. Their consistent relevance is why I say the first and most important part of wearing a casual blazer doesn't even start with the outfit, really. It starts at the thrift store.
I found this gorgeous double breasted blazer, for example, at my local thrift. I knew I'd have the most luck and even the most options there because we've been here before with blazers, in the 80s and 90s. In fact I was just watching an episode of Living Single and laughed to myself a bit because the outfit Regine was wearing was so similar to what I put together here. Anyone who's been thrifting even once knows that it can take a bit of digging to find gems, but it's worth it to find on trend pieces without spending full price or consuming fast fashion.
My other favorite part of this outfit, never to be overlooked, is the beautiful set of mauve tassel earrings from H&M (which are sold out, but this pair from Jam+Rico is similar). I bought these two years ago to wear to Style Week FW 2018 and have truly neglected them since then which is a shame. I usually reach for necklaces so honestly most of my earrings end up a bit neglected, but this borderline proper outfit practically grabbed me by the arms and yelled, "I deserve something different and fun!", so here we are.
What I'm Wearing
thrifted long double breasted blazer (similar here and here) / Target ribbed turtleneck / H&M tassel earrings, high waist ankle jeans / Old Navy mint crossbody bag / Dr. Martens 1460 boots
